Thermal Radar Expands into the Middle East, Strengthening Regional Presence Across the GCC, Central Asia, and Africa

Thermal Radar’s 360° detection solutions are designed to perform in the most challenging environments, from desert borders to critical infrastructure sites.

Thermal Radar, a global leader in 360-degree thermal detection and situational awareness solutions, has announced the expansion of its international operations with the opening of a dedicated base in the United Arab Emirates. This milestone marks a significant step in the company’s continued growth across the GCC countries, Central Asia, and Africa regions that are rapidly investing in critical infrastructure protection, smart cities, and perimeter resilience.

Leading the regional operations is Mike Petty, who has now relocated to the UAE to spearhead business development and partnerships. A respected voice in the global security community, Mike will also become Chair of the ASIS International Foundation next year, continuing his long-standing advocacy for professional development and cross-sector collaboration within the industry.

“To truly support our customers here, it was essential that we establish a local presence,” said Mike Petty, Managing Director for Thermal Radar EMEAA. “The Middle East and surrounding regions present some of the world’s most diverse and challenging environments, from vast borders to remote energy installations. Customers expect solutions that are reliable, simple, and effective in every condition. That’s exactly where Thermal Radar excels. Having a local base means we can secure key approvals such as SIRA certification, respond faster, and work dynamically alongside our partners as the region continues to grow.”

Thermal Radar’s patented rotating thermal sensor technology delivers continuous 360° situational awareness, detecting and tracking intrusions in real time, even in complete darkness, heavy fog, sandstorms, or extreme heat. Unlike traditional fixed or PTZ systems, a single Thermal Radar unit can cover expansive perimeters, reducing infrastructure complexity and cost while improving detection accuracy and response time.

These characteristics make Thermal Radar particularly well-suited for the GCC, Central Asian, and African markets, where operators face environmental extremes and require 24/7 performance with minimal maintenance. The technology is already trusted by organizations in defence, border security, oil and gas, utilities, and transportation sectors worldwide.

And given the exponential growth across the region, the unique environmental and operational challenges, and the increasingly robust regulatory landscape, it’s fair to say this is a marriage made in heaven, a technology perfectly aligned with the region’s evolving security and infrastructure priorities.

Since establishing operations in the UAE, Mike has quickly become part of the region’s vibrant security community, engaging with consultants, integrators, and end users, attending industry events, and helping to raise awareness of Thermal Radar’s innovative perimeter-detection capabilities (while enjoying the region’s sunshine in equal measure).

“It’s an exciting time for us,” Mike added. “The pace of innovation across the region is incredible. We’re proud to be part of that journey, helping organizations strengthen resilience and protect what matters most.”

The SEME team only have one question for Mike… why didn’t you come earlier?
